Kaylin's Story
Hi! I am a 25 year old UC patient. At the age of 13, I began having bowel problems. A doctor said I could possibly have Crohn's disease, but it was never diagnosed because I went into remission for about 9 years.
Four months after giving birth to my daughter, I went into a relapse. Although everyone thought it was "diarrhea," I knew better. I was constantly going to the bathroom almost 10 times a day. I had no appetite because everything I ate, including drinking water, ran through me. I went from a mere 97 lbs to a measly 68 lbs. Just imagine a 22 year old female at 68 lbs - a walking skeleton!
After a couple of years of being hospitalized, being on a feeding tube, 15 different meds, tests, a good doctor, prayers, as well as a supportive family and wonderful husband of four years, I am doing better than before. I am back in school, with one year left to graduate. Although I will be 26 when I graduate college, I am thankful to have another opportunity to live my life. I plan on being an advocate for UC, because I am an UC survivor and I would like to share my story and thoughts with others.
Thank-you.
