Samantha's Story
I am a 32 year old Australian female who was diagnosed with UC 6 years ago, after having my appendix removed and not seeming to get well again.
I had the first awful colonscopy and was diagnosed from there. I thought the fasting and the god awful drink was the worst part of that ( and of course the thought of what they were putting up where!). Until the middle of last year, I had not had a flare up since the original one.
Well, know I have had three flare ups and one thing I do believe, for me, is that stress has to be a factor. The more stressed I become, the worse my symptoms are. I was reading some other stories, and I read about one man who had problems with his father. That is me! The more I stand up to my abusive father and go through the trauma of dealing with his rantings, the quicker I will have a flare up. I try to curb my emotions for my own health, but when you have people deliberately trying to sabotage your life, the harder it is.
Unfortunately, I have had to put my father out of my life. It is for my own sake and my health, and I beleive it is working. I still have a long way to go, but I have to try, I have a 9 yr old daughter and a 4 yr old son, they are my life, and I have to be here for them.Even though I have been diagnosed for over 6 years, I still cannot find anything that can really help.I am up for anything!
