Beck's Story
I am a 29 year old mother of four. (YES FOUR!) children. I was first diagnosed with UC when I was 19 years old after what seemed a million mis-diognos's. When they finally found out what it was i was already in the hospital and had been there for a week. I didn't require hospitalization again until last summer. I have had tons of problems since and can't seem to get better. I have tried diet, (gluetin free, low fiber, high fiber, low carb, vegitarian, etc..) pills (sulphasalazine, dipentum, asacol, colozal, ect....) I have taken prednisone off and on for the last 10 years. I have tried aloe vera, slippery elm, and numerourous other herbal treatments. Heck, I have even tried acupressure!
Well the last time I went in the doctor did a colonoscopy and I have a stricture at the first bend in my Large intestine. I had to have a barium enema and there is growths and strictures clear to the small intestine. He is telling me I have to have an IPAA done (they remove your entire colon!). I am scared (not quite) poopless! As it is I actually FEEL fine. So I have a hard time swallowing the idea of having this procedure done. I wish I had better ideas for self cure. I guess sometimes things just don't go away like you would like.
